Costa Dorada outside of Barcelona

La Costa Dorada, or Costa Daurada in Catalan, is a sum of 20 towns covering 216 km of marine littoral, and has the area of 786 hectares of beaches with fine shallow waters and sand. Costa Dorada is lying south of Catalonia, and attracts on an average 3,500,000 tourists per year and therefore has a large numbers of hotels, apartments and camping sites. Vineyards, carobs, almond trees, hazel trees, and some vegetable gardens are seen lying in the farmlands in the peaceful towns that are located in between the mountains and the sea.

Costa Dorada, also called the Golden coast, is a family friendly destination for a peaceful and happy holidaying. Weather there is mild, consistent and with a bright sun. Seafood, being the local food of the area, is best in whole Catalunya and is very renowned for the taste.

Dorada is housing a world heritage site of the Roman ruins in Tarragona. This heritage site is situated 90 km south of Barcelona. The airport of the area is placed in the Reus city; a charming place with modern architecture. Some of the best architects in Barcelona have left their remarkable contributions in the Reus. There are also the Cathedrals of wine, constructed centuries back, and now used as the wine cooperatives.

Mont roig del camp has a circuit of 143 kms for the mountain biking with four levels and ten routes. Cost Dorada should never be forgotten for its delicious seafood, and it is famous in whole Europe. The rice dishes are very inventive, giving a number of choices for the rice lovers. Annual culinary celebrations are organized by many municipalities, in which the specialty dishes of them are presented. Wine has the equal importance among the cuisines of Costa Dorada. Interiors of Costa Dorada are full of forests and vineyards.

Villages celebrate fiesta mayors, a traditional festival in which the visitors can equally participate with locals. The festival runs for several days with games, dancing, parades, fires, light shows, village cuisines, traditional Catalan dance, and famous human towers. Many beaches of the coast are blue flag awarded, which means they have clear and clean blue waters. Many areas have same common features along the coast of Dorada, but still there is something unique that every visitor can enjoy.
